Types of Trips
The state of Oklahoma offers amazing fishing experiences all year round. Please read below to learn about all the trips offered by Tall Man Dan’s Guide Service.
Spring, Summer, & Fall
Hybrid/Striped Bass [Skiatook, Keystone, Sooner, Birch, Ponca]. Traditional Okie guide trip using live bait (shad) on downline rods.
Spring Trips
Hybrid/White bass on Chouteau Bend [Hudson tailwaters / Ft Gibson headwaters]. We launch at Mazie Landing and go after white bass and hybrid during the spring run upstream; using lighter gear and/or casting lures.
Year Round
Catfish (Keystone, Fort Gibson, Oologah). Traditional downline cat rig using cut shad, fishing in shallow or deep waters.
Winter Trips
Hybrids (Skiatook, Sooner, Birch, Ponca). When available type trip that requires a few sunny days and some wind. This is where I’ll take 2-3 anglers out for 4-5 hours, and we will cast lures for hybrid in shallow waters. You bring your own casting poles. I provide jigs and plastic swim bait lures. No fish cleaning.
Teaching Trip
I get in your boat and use your (Lowrance) electronics to teach how to find fish. I teach sonar basics (2D, Down imaging, Side imaging, Forward facing sonar) and tune your equipment if needed. This trip starts with your boat on the trailer. And since the goal is to teach, answer questions, and reinforce principles, the goal will not be filling the livewell.
